James

This is a very engrossing book written by James, whom we know as Jim in Huckleberry Finn. James is literate and smart. You obtain a better idea of an enslaved person and what he really could do and not do. It switches in language from slave to English as spoken by most whites. It is a good, fast read without getting too deep into slavery but you will be thinking about that later. —Ruth
