The Only Woman in the room

In this novel, we have the story of Hedy Lamarr fictionalized and, some would say, simplified, misrepresented, and sensationalized by Marie Benedict. Under the cover of fiction, many of Lamarr’s very considerable achievements are either mischaracterized or ignored. Her most acclaimed film, “Samson and Delilah,” isn’t even mentioned.

So why are we reading it?  To get the discussion going, I assume. It is the responsibility of each of us to learn whatever we can about this truly remarkable woman. And this website is just aching to get its little pixels around whatever you find out.

A good place to begin the research is the excellent documentary “Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story” produced for PBS.
